민요로 스티븐 포스터가 작사, 작곡했으며
켄터키에 있는 옛 고향의 집을 생각하며 지은 노래다. 굉장히 빠른 템포에 밝고 명랑한 곡이 특징이다.

'Tis summer, the people are gay; [1] 여기서의 gay는 고어로 “즐거운”이라는 뜻이다.

쟁반노래방 13회 도전곡으로 쓰인 적이 있다.
이 외에도
크레이지 아케이드 켄터키 맵의 BGM으로도 쓰였는데, 이 맵의 모티브가 된
KFC의 런칭 광고에 쓰이기도 했다.
#구 버전 신 버전구 버전에서는 메인 파트가 끝나자마자 끊기면서 반복이 되었는데 신 버전에서는 연결 파트가 등장하고, 낮은 키 부분(-3키)도 등장했다.
