1. 기독교 신학의 개념
παρουσια / Parousia[1] / (The) Second Coming
기독교 신학에서의 개념으로 예수가 부활하여 승천한 후 다시 지상에 강림해 믿는 자를 구원한다는 것이다. 신약 성경의 원전인 코이네 그리스어 사본에서는 παρουσια라고 쓰는데 이는 '도착'을 뜻한다.
초대 교회 사람들은 예수가 금방 재림할 거라고 생각했으나, 금방 재림하지 않으니까, 뒷 세대들에게 예수를 전하기 위해 복음서를 저술했다고 추정할 수도 있다.
재림의 시기는 아무도 모른다고 하지만 재림이 있을 때의 징조는 알 수 있다고 한다. 또 재림 때 있을 일을 기록해둔 것이 요한묵시록이다.그러나 그 날과 그 시간은 아무도 모른다. 하늘의 천사들도 모르고 아들도 모르고 오직 아버지만이 아신다.
개신교의 종파 중 예수의 재림을 기다리는 종파라는 의미로 이름이 지어진 재림파가 있다.
기독교계 사이비 종교에서는 유독 재림예수를 거론하는 일이 많다. 보통 교주를 재림예수라 거론하면서. 덕분에 대한민국에는 하느님 20명과 재림예수 50명이 존재한다(...) #

2. 윌리엄 버틀러 예이츠의 시 The Second Coming
윌리엄 버틀러 예이츠의 영어 시. 1919년에 완성되어 1920년에 미국 잡지 The Dial에 발표되었다.
역사적으로는 제1차 세계대전과 아일랜드 독립 전쟁을 겪었던 혼란기에 출간되어 격변 속에서 느껴지는 혼란과 종말을 노래한 것으로 해석된다.
번역Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
